    Josh Herman

    Josh Herman has been practicing ceramics for over 35 years and specializes in a mid-century modern aesthetic. His approach uses clay as a vehicle for self exploration and is deeply informed by his training in Hakomi therapy. As CEO and educator at Tao of Clay, he brings this expertise to teaching classes, shaping studio programming, and guiding the overall vision of Tao of Clay in alignment with its commitment to being community centered, organic, and rooted in exceptional quality across the studio.
  • Rachel Herman

    Rachel Herman serves as the Studio Coordinator at Tao of Clay. She works closely with Josh to organize and structure guest workshops and coordinates all studio communications and email. With over 15 years of experience in customer relations for Josh Herman Ceramics, she brings a deep understanding of community care, organization, and clear communication to the studio.
  • Jim Lehrman

    Jim Lehrman has played an instrumental role in the formation of Tao of Clay. With almost 50 years practicing present-centered psychotherapy along with extensive experience in developing, operating, and consulting to businesses and organizations, he joins Tao of Clay as our Flow Facilitator. Jim's life experience is vast, ranging from playing in bands through the 60s and 70s to writing health care legislation to serving as the director of Interface Foundation in Boston and Omega Institute in New York. In his role, he helps the team clarify vision and operate in alignment with our principles, ensuring that Tao of Clay continues to thrive, grow, and walk its talk.
  • Ava DeCapri

    Ava is a potter with a background in industrial design and product development, working with 3D printers and advanced manufacturing techniques. As the Studio Manager, Ava is involved in all levels of studio operations, programming, and member services. Alongside her role at Tao of Clay, she runs her ceramics brand, Trapdoor, crafting utilitarian tableware and home goods.
  • Jesse Ring

    Jesse is a sculptor whose work in clay, metal, and paper explores the relationship between humans, nature, and the occult. His art has been exhibited nationally and internationally and shaped through artist residencies and teaching in the U.S. and abroad. As the Clay and Glaze Manager, Jesse brings experience in both higher education and community centers. In his teaching and studio practice, he is drawn to the technical and poetic qualities of clay and glaze.
  • Theo Hirschfield

    Theo Hirschfield has been working with ceramics over the past six years. He started his journey with clay in high school and continued his practice studying fine art and sculpture at the College of Creative Studies at University of California Santa Barbara. Theo brings his expertise in ceramics to teaching courses and leading content across social media and marketing for Tao of Clay.
  • Skyy Bailey

    Skyy fell in love with ceramics at the age of 17 after taking a class in high school. She uses pottery as a means to meditate and stay grounded with the earth. She considers clay to be one of her greatest teachers. Skyy strives to incorporate the principles of Taoism and the practice of Hakomi in her art. These principles include balance and harmony with the space around her as well as non-attachment and acknowledgment of growth. At Tao of Clay her role is studio technician with an emphasis on member support.

  • Lindsay "L" Miller

    Lindsay "L" Miller is an artist working in ceramics, mixed media, and illustration, with a practice shaped by research, material exploration, and close attention to process. Informed by a background in design and human-centered inquiry, her work emphasizes experimentation, exploring the physicality of internal worlds, and the experience of making. As a studio technician at Tao of Clay, Lindsay brings a hands-on, service-oriented approach to studio support, with a focus on inclusivity, sharing knowledge, and co-creating a joyful, well-functioning studio for artists at every stage.
