Tao of Clay Terms of Service

Effective Date: January 1, 2025

Welcome to Tao of Clay. By accessing our website (www.taoofclay.com), registering for a class or workshop, purchasing products, or subscribing to a membership, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Use of the Website

2. Class, Workshop, and Membership Terms

Enrollment and Payment

Full payment is required at the time of registration unless otherwise stated. Enrollments are confirmed only upon receipt of payment. Payment is accepted online via our scheduling platform.

Cancellations and Refunds

Each class or workshop may have its own cancellation policy. If not specified, the default refund terms apply:

  • All registrations are final. We do not offer refunds for cancellations.

Tao of Clay reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any class or workshop. In such cases, registered participants will be notified and may receive a refund or option to transfer, in accordance with our refund policy.

Membership Subscriptions

Memberships are recurring and must be canceled before the next billing cycle to avoid charges. We do not offer refunds or prorated billing for memberships. Studio access is subject up to date and correct membership fee payment, completion of onboarding and agreement signing. More detailed policies on membership subscriptions are outlined in the Membership Policies document and Communal Studio Use Agreement, both signed by Member during onboarding.

3. Studio Policies and Conduct

Attendance and Missed Classes

Students are expected to attend all scheduled sessions. We do not offer refunds, reschedules, or make-up sessions for missed classes. We do not offer pro-rated refunds for missed classes.

Behavior and Community Standards

We value a safe, respectful, and inclusive community. Disruptive, unsafe, or discriminatory behavior will result in removal from the class or studio without refund. We do not discriminate based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, or ability.

Materials and Tools

Information about provided tools is specific to each workshop and is stated on the registration page. Some workshops will provide tools which are loaned from the studio for the duration of the class or workshop. Students are welcome to bring their own tools or purchase a set from our shop. Loaned tools that have been lost or damaged tools will be charged to the student.

Material requirements differ for each workshop or class. We often provide our in-house clay and studio glazes for classes and workshops. Material costs will be clearly stated on the registration page for each class and workshop. Additional fees may apply for materials or firing beyond the project scope.

Firing Policies

Workshops and classes include enough time, clay, and firing credit to complete one primary project. If you wish to make additional work, you may purchase a day pass or consider becoming a member. Firing beyond what is included will be charged at our standard rate. Due to material compatibility, workshop and class pieces must be glazed using approved studio glazes only.

4. Studio Access and Guests

Students and members may not bring guests or share studio access codes. Clay and glaze materials may not be removed from the premises without written permission. Members must follow all posted studio guidelines and respect shared equipment.

Members receive one Guest pass per month and are responsible for the orientation and work of their guest. Guests visiting the studio through a member Guest pass must follow the guidelines of day pass usage and will be required to sign a Release of Liability upon entering the studio for the first time.

5. Health, Safety, and Liability

Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. Tao of Clay is not liable for injury, illness, loss, or damage incurred while attending classes or using studio facilities. You agree to follow all safety instructions and studio policies.

By enrolling, you release Tao of Clay, its employees, and affiliates from any liability associated with participation in our programs or use of our facilities.

Please notify us in writing at registration of any medical concerns or accessibility needs.

6. Photography and Media

By attending a class, workshop, or event, you grant Tao of Clay permission to photograph or film you and your work for promotional use, including website, social media, and newsletters. Please let us know in advance if you wish to opt out.
