Biography
My ceramics practice began in 2021 with two years of intensive training at Golden Bridge Pottery in Pondicherry, India. Working through a disciplined, repetition-based wheel-throwing program, I built a strong foundation in form alongside hands-on experience in wood firing and clay body preparation. This period shaped my approach to making through attention, repetition, and an intuitive understanding of material. Since then, I have continued developing my practice independently through small commissions, sales, and participation in communal firings. In 2024, I spent six months at Gaya Ceramics Arts Center in Bali, Indonesia, as an intern, assisting internationally established ceramic artists while refining my own body of work. This experience expanded my understanding of studio practice through exposure to diverse techniques, firing approaches, and ways of working within a shared ceramic environment. I make simple, strong functional pots and my work is rooted in wheel-thrown forms that are often altered through coiling or paddling, allowing subtle shifts in structure and movement. I am interested in restraint, how small decisions in a curve, rim, or proportion can carry presence without excess. I make work to be held, used, and lived with. I find meaning when a vessel becomes part of one's everyday living. My practice is shaped by this ongoing exchange between object and person, form and touch.
