In this 6-week immersive course, you’ll explore the art of coiling as a sculptural practice, guided by the principle of Organicity—the idea that creativity flows when we trust the natural rhythm of the process. Through hands-on instruction and supported studio time, you’ll learn to build expressive ceramic sculptures by coiling, shaping, and responding intuitively to the clay as it evolves in your hands.
Each session introduces key techniques for constructing and refining coiled forms, including how to support structural integrity, shape dynamically, and allow the piece to grow from your creative instincts. Rather than following rigid plans, this course emphasizes deep listening to your body, materials, and impulses, inviting your sculpture to emerge with authenticity and flow.
This class is open to both beginners and experienced artists who are curious to explore a more organic and intuitive relationship with their work. By the end of the course, you’ll have created a finished sculpture and developed a deeper understanding of your own creative rhythm—aligned with the Tao of Clay’s mindful approach to making.
