November 15th–16th, 2026 | 2-Day Workshop

Sunday, November 15th: 10:00 AM–5:00 PM
Monday, November 16th: 10:00 AM–5:00 PM
Both days include a one-hour lunch break.

Join us at Tao of Clay for a two-day, hands-on glazing workshop with guest artist Ruth Easterbrook. This workshop is designed to help participants expand their approach to glazing through a deeper understanding of glaze properties, application techniques, layering, and surface design.

Ruth will demonstrate a range of glazing techniques, including layering, underglaze application, masking with tape, and glaze inlay. Participants will have dedicated hands-on time to experiment with each technique and receive guidance throughout the workshop.

Workshop Schedule

Day 1: Sunday, November 15th | 10:00 AM–5:00 PM

The workshop will begin with a glazing demonstration focused on glaze properties, working properties, and best practices for application. Ruth will demonstrate layering techniques, including using underglazes underneath and on top of glaze.

After the lunch break, Ruth will demonstrate using tape to mask off designs, followed by a demonstration of using tools to inlay glaze. Participants will then have time to practice the techniques demonstrated.

Day 2: Monday, November 16th | 10:00 AM–5:00 PM

Participants will review fired demonstration pieces from Day 1 and Ruth will demonstrate how to combine multiple techniques on a single piece.

The remainder of the day will be dedicated to hands-on glazing, allowing participants to experiment with the techniques covered in the workshop with guidance and assistance from Ruth.

All workshop pieces will be fired after the class is complete.
