Throwing 2 is designed for students who are ready to refine their foundational wheel-throwing skills and take on more complex forms.
Building on the principles introduced in Intro to Throwing, this course offers step-by-step instruction in creating bottles with narrow necks, pitchers with pulled spouts, and larger open forms like bowls and plates.
Through focused demonstrations and hands-on practice, you’ll learn how to throw with greater control and intention, troubleshoot common issues, and start integrating your techniques across a range of forms. We’ll also continue to develop trimming and glazing skills, exploring how finishing techniques can elevate your work.
A unique feature of this course is the continued integration of mindfulness into the ceramic process. You’ll be invited to deepen your connection to the wheel and your body, approaching each step of the process with curiosity, presence, and attention to flow.
By the end of the course, students will have expanded their repertoire of forms and built more fluency and confidence at the wheel—ready to move forward in their throwing journey.
Level: Intermediate Beginner
Prerequisite Note: This course is intended for students who have completed an introductory wheel throwing class. Participants should be comfortable centering at least 2 lbs of clay and throwing a 6” tall cylinder.
